Decanted 3 hours. Loamy, earthy, dusty dark fruit, dark chocolate edges on the nose. Palate adds tea leaf and tobacco/cigar box nuances. Pulls off the rustic style quite well. 90+
Decanted 4 hours. Heavy red and black licorice, blackberry reduction, plum, vanilla bean, all carrying from nose to palate in good balance. A consistently exceptional wine.
This bottle was better than 12/3/2011 and did well without a decant. Red and black cherry changing to dark raspberry in the glass, chocolate hints in background. Nice, mature, but not overly expressive.
