Introduction

Difficult! Didn't even recognize my own wine from Arnoux

  • 2001 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots 92 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru

    Lovely intoxicating nose, full with black fruit and spices. Taste is complex, concentrated, sweet, nice acidity. Especially the minerality of the wine stands out in the mid-palate. Some secundary notes with leather. Despite this being ten years old it appears still rather young; drinks beautifully now but the one bottle I have left I will open 5 years from now.

  • 2002 Prince Florent de Merode Corton-Bressandes Flawed

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru

    Plummy sweet earthy nose. Is this a normal earthiness linked to the wine or is it a bit corked? I think the latter. Taste full of red fruit, slight acidity, some ripe tannins, good mid-palate, long finish. Lovely wine, would give it 92 points if not for the slightly corked taste.

  • 1997 Domaine Thomas-Moillard Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts 88 Points

    Developed colour. Very earthy nose with hardly any fruit. Red fruit taste, still fairly acidic, hardly any tannins. A bit austere, thin mid palate, medium finish

  • 2000 Domaine Bertagna Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Murgers 91 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru

    Young nose, a bit earthy, red fruit. Taste also full with red fruit, rich, a bit oaky, some mushroom, medium finish. This appears much younger than it is and certainly is not a textbook 2000 Burgundy when considering its freshness and young appearance. This should improve with further ageing.
