NYC Maialino

I was kindly invited by a few Baltimorean friends for two nights of drinking and eating in NYC. Five us were joined by Chris Cottrell of Crush wine at Maialino. All the dishes were excellent and in the cases of a Braised suckling pig and a guinea hen, spectacular.
All the wines were generously contributed by Tom M except two stickies. Unfortunately the 90 Giacosa Barbaresco Santo Stefano Riserva was corked and the 82 Sandrone Cannubi Boschis was Madeirized. All the others were sound and showed really well.
Although the Barbarescos and the Barolos were older, they seem fresher and younger than the BDMs.
We also had a bottle of the 75 Von Simmern BA but didnt jot down the vineyard. This was a great bottle of desert wine, intense but quite precise.
It was a fun evening with lots of laughter.
