Honeysuckle and stony white flowers. Short finish but thirst quenching. Candied ginger and lemon zest. Such a nice wine for the $

  • 1990 Philip Togni Cabernet Sauvignon 94 Points

USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District

Bell pepper, a little tomato paste and lots of dust on the nose. On the palate some bright dark cherry and chalky cassis. Roasted/cured meat (pepperoni maybe). A little cinnamon. After 30 minutes the cherry becomes red and integrates with all the other flavors. Great fruit/acid/alcohol balance. Finished really long. Wine of the night by far, as part of a 3 year vertical. 94+ S2 said 93; I said 95

  • 1991 Philip Togni Cabernet Sauvignon 92 Points

USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District

Some alcohol on the nose. Clove, saddle leather, sweet tea, really dark cherry. Really long and rich with a chalky mouthfeel. After 30 minutes, finish falls short but still a treat.

  • 1992 Philip Togni Cabernet Sauvignon 90 Points

USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District

Minty Eucalyptus on nose. Luden's cough drops. Similar profile to the wonderful 1990 but with more upfront fruit initially. After 30 minutes it goes to BIG STINK (almost underarm stink). Never quite regains its balance.
