P invited me to join for his 1st wine dinner in 2012 with the theme of Dragon's vintage (1964,1976,1988, 2000). I was surprised about the liveliness of both 1964 Cos'd and 1976 Mouton, while not spectacular, both were still drinking beautifully. My WOTN was clearly the 88 Delagrange Batard as it combined both power and finesse. Thanks P, keep it up!

1988 Delagrange-Bachelet Bâtard-Montrachet 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Alcohol : 13%
Deep golden but vibrant. Highly express with chrysanthemum, roasted almond, hazelnut complexity. With time, sweet lemon, melon, coffee and creamy butter as well as touch of honey and smoke accompany by mineral at the background that formed the very deep complex aromas. The entry was bright and delicate with incredible freshness. Gained more weight and become very powerful on the mid palate but remained refine and focus. Energetic and persistence, deep layer. Showing full force on the long lasting spicy infused finish with lots of toasted nut, butter as well as mineral aftertaste, lasted for a min. Amazing.

1990 Pol Roger Champagne Vintage Brut 92 Points
France, Champagne
Alcohol : 12%
Dark golden. Quite a heavy oxidative nose with iron, brown sugar and toasted nuttiness. Some honey note appeared after some air along with yellow flower, lemony fruits and malt. Entry is rich and continue to flow on the palate with well delineated complex flavor of lemon lime, plum, beer-ish and yeastiness. Still fresh, with firm acidic backbone, wonderful balance and harmony though smaller in scale. This is drinking beautifully now and the drive, persistent on the finish is enticing.
