    A rather unique nose that I did not enjoy. Cedar, floral and apple cider vinegar. The flavor also showed the apple cider vinegar.

  • 2009 Rhys Pinot Noir Family Farm Vineyard 90 Points

    Easily identifiable as the Rhys, this one needed far more time and air. It came off as green and herbaceous. Eucalyptus and cranberry nose,
    Spice, oak, cherry and eucalyptus flavors.

  • 2009 Mount Eden Vineyards Pinot Noir 92 Points

    Blind flight of 5 CA Pinots and 1 Burg. Group's #2 wine, My #1.
    Bright cranberry, caramel, dusty and band-aid nose. Very green flavors, green pepper, green grass. Fairly astringent too.
    This one improved quickly in the glass with air, the band-aid aromas went away and more red fruit came through.

    Lovely pinot funk on the nose, wintergreen too.

    Almost unanimously hated by the group, this was my favorite wine of the flight. It was so unique and almost German Riesling like. Petrol, burnt hair, herbal and honey on the nose. Delicate fruit and floral flavors. Lucky for me, I was able to take the bottle left overs home where I enjoyed it even more.
