Chanoch call at noon for a spontenous soiree
Chanoch surprised us with the quality of wines - he made an effort though only one bottle was a real quality wine. Also the servings were tasty. Chapeau!
2004 Bouchard Père et Fils Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets Ancienne Cuvée Carnot 87 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
nice color, typical Volnay aroma, pleasant on the palate, but not as expected from a premier cru in general, mostly due to this mediocre vintage

2004 Enrico Serafino Barolo 86 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
typical Nebbiolo color & aroma, good but less than expected on the palate, especially from this great 2004 vintage.

2003 Domaine des Perdrix Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Aux Perdrix 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
this was a great an d very enjoyable wine - not typical at all to a Bourgogne wine in color, aroma and flavors!
dark red-black color. 1st surprise.
intense impressive secondary & tertiary long-enduring aroma of ripe fruits, earth, leather, sous-bois, of a warm vintage wine. 2nd surprise.
full body, savory flavors of ripe fruits, rich, balance tannins & bitterness, excellent acidity, good harmony, very long aftertaste. A real wonderful pleasure. 3rd surprise!
bottom line: this was nothing like a typical Cote de Nuits Premier Cru, but a great and very enjoyable wine!

1995 Conterno Fantino Barolo Vigna del Gris 87 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
typical nebbiolo color
still very closed: very light aroma, med-full body, very tannic, too 'green', not impressing as the 1997 or 2001 vintages. mediocre.
