La Paulee rejects do lunch...

Introduction
Edson Gonzales and I just couldn't stand it anymore, with La Paulee going on just an hour and a half away...so we shot over to SF on Sat. to see if we could crash the Grand Tasting. Well, with no tics available, we were laughed out of the building....so we meet up with a few of the fellas, and had a great lunch at Zuni Cafe! Great to finally meet Mike Kelly, Jonathan Favre and Roger Nellans, as well as their local German buddy(can't remember his name).....we had a FANTASTIC lunch!
Hell....the lunch went almost to dinner time....so Edson and I decided to keep it going, and have dinner at RN74 later on while the fellas went off to the Gala dinner! It was a fun day...even though we weren't envolved with any of the going ons with La Paulee. But the spirit was in us....

If fine shape...sweet red fruits, rhubarb, cinnamon...had a distinct dusty earth tone to it...smooth and creamy, sous bois, old leather, some orange acid still shows. Very enjoyable.

Opened up nicely after some air time....dark wild berry fruit, black cherry, beautiful florals, violets, berry liqueur, mushroom.....silky tannin..structured, some crunchy minerals, yet refined....loved the dark spice in this! I kept going back for more and more...

Gorgeous silky feel to this...aged to perfection...dusty orange spice, leather, rose stem, plum liqueur....little cloudy and rustic, but plenty of charm. Loved this!

Bight and crisp apple, lime fruit...light white gold color with some green....beautiful lime blossom florals, honeysuckle, taught mineral nerve...little smoky flint as well....pure...love it!

Pop n pour...this started out with some sulfur stank...but quickly integrated to give this wine wonderful complexity! Rich and creamy bright fruit, great weight, yet tight with minerals and citrus acidity. Love the complexities of the smoke, chalk, hazelnut, slight wintergreen...this drank better and better as the day went on.

Killer young Burgundy...so tasty right out of the gate! Crunchy young redberry, raspberry fruit, very transparent and pure....gorgeous white pepper spice, some menthol...good dose of structure, yet feminine. Need some of this!

Slight spritz...lot of floral peach, creamy sweet fruit, good dose of minerality...didn't spend much time with this..just remember the peach!
