Nothing terribly noteworthy here, although the Fixin was like a small village Gevrey, and the '05 Gouges AC wine was promising.

Light color. Piney nose. Dry, resiny feel. Tart finish with some graphite. Lean, lacks generosity.

Slightly bretty. Blackberry fruit. Medium weight with nice feel and bright acidity. The mid-palate fruit fades into a moderately long, earthy finish.

Round, berry-like entry, but then medium weight, very dry finish with strong impression of camphor. Neither balanced nor well knit.

2005 Moillard Echezeaux

Sweaty aromatics. Big, sappy wine. Deep, dark core of fruit, convincing material. Good acidity and length. Not exactly a Grand Cru of finesse or subtlety, but if it gains some complexity over time, it could turn out to be pretty good.

2005 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits-Saint-Georges
Round, lush entry. Relatively straightforward black cherry fruit with a dash of earth. Long, tannic, clinging finish. This is just getting started, and for a village level wine, I found it more exciting than the Echezeaux tasted before it. Hold for 5 more years before broaching a bottle.

2004 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos de La Bussière

Light with some browning. Faintly green on the nose. Medium weight, some texture but disjointed with a grippy, dry tannic finish. Weird and not at all pleasing.
