Introduction

Wines were tasted single-blind.

Flight 1 (4 Notes)

  • 2010 Brooks Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 90 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Red cherry, hint of spice on the nose. Light to medium bodied with medium acidity. Nice red cherry, baking spice, nice finish. Sweet fruit but light and elegant. Not the last word in complexity but my favorite of the flight. (my 1st, group's 2nd/3rd)

  • 2010 Copain Pinot Noir Tous Ensemble 88 Points

USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley

Deep, pretty black cherry nose. Medium bodied with medium acidity. Sweet black cherry and raspberry fruit. A bit disjointed, with the sweet fruit and tart acidity not really integrating. (my 4th, group's 4th)

Pretty, complex nose of cassis, baked plum, violets, anise and black pepper. Medium to full bodied with medium acidity. Tart blackberry and raspberry fruit, bit of pepper and tannin. Very nice. (my 3rd, group's 2nd/3rd)

  • 2010 Bedrock Wine Co. Syrah Sonoma Coast 90 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast

Nice fresh black- and blueberry nose. Medium bodied with medium+ acidity. Bright, tart black- and blueberry fruit sprinkled with dried flowers. Lots of acidity and some rustic tannins. Quite nice. (my 2nd, group's 1st)
