Introduction
This was the release of the 2010 Awatea and Coleraine which were featured in a three year vertical with the 2006 and 2008, and also featured tastings of the current releases of four other Te Mata wines
2011 Te Mata Estate Sauvignon Blanc Cape Crest 88 Points
New Zealand, North Island, Hawke's Bay
Made in a Bordeaux style with 11% Semillon and 4% Sauvignon gris. A very mineral driven SB, much lower in acidity than most New Zealand examples. Crisp and refreshing with lingering lychee notes.

2010 Te Mata Estate Chardonnay Elston 89 Points
New Zealand, North Island, Hawke's Bay
White peach on the nose. Very crisp, with plenty of minerality on the palate. Little fruit initially, although it picks up toward the finish. A wine I enjoyed more and more as I aopproached the bottom of the glass.

2010 Te Mata Estate Syrah Bullnose 93 Points

Huge perfumed nose, with plenty of white pepper. Very elegant wine with soft tannins and restrained fruit. Mouth-coatingly beautiful, and very long.

2006 Te Mata Estate Cabernet / Merlot Awatea 88 Points

Floral on the nose. Showing some signs of development. Fruit is quite restrained. Seems to finish a little short. Oak is still quite clearly present. Was probably the weakest wine among the 2006,2008 and 2010.

Much sweeter and fresher than the 2006. Also had much better length. Was definitely the pick of the three year vertical.

Still very primary. Very floral on the nose. A hint of sweetness. Needs much more time.

2006 Te Mata Estate Coleraine 91 Points

Cigarbox on the nose. Very smooth. Flavourv profile drops away a bit in the mid-palate, and you get the feeling it is going to end short. But then it builds up again to a reasonable long finish.

Tannins are much more noticable here than in the 2006. A bit sweeter than either the 2006 or 2010.

Great intensity on the nose. Flavour just builds on the palate toward a very long finish. Beautiful fine tannins. Definitely the pick of the three vintages.
