Introduction

Started in 1982. Started making their own wine in 1986, Biodynamic/Organic in 1991. got the Biodynamic tickle after visiting Leroy among others in France. Alsatian inclinations from Marcel Deiss. 200 acres planted and all estate fruit.

    frosty melon aroma. whole cluster pressed for more texture on the palate and true that. palate has a real ice-y edge to it. 13.7ABV seems just about right here. Start with it (375ml) or party with it (1.5L)!!

    43%Pinot Gris, 32% Pinot Blanc, 15%Gewurztraminer, 10% Riesling. 2011 has a lot more Riesling in it!!
    more citrus fruit exposed here. lemon pith. mineral aroma. The GW just whispers on the palate, by ever so gently throwing it's weight around. no floral who-ha here, but some serious oh-ah. clean on the finish. mmmm.

  • 2009 Robert Sinskey Vineyards Pinot Noir Aries

    Along side 2009 Jermann Red Angel in the Moonlight Pinot Nero. Significantly lighter color vs. the Jermann. Cherry fruit aromas framed with a moderate woody barrel aroma. Elegance over muscle is the comparison I'm drawing here. But that's all relative, going straight to the Sinksey, I'm pulled right in, made to dance with the aromas. On the palate the barrel note comes up and shakes my hand first. Continuing and not letting go right away, until the cherry fruit persists. Lavender and spice make for a very pretty and persistent wine.
    Day4. Really on top this evening. Incense-style floral notes. Nag Champa is often my reference here. But pretty much square on that. Barrel spice and cinnamon. Palate has a very friendly, elegant appeal. Cherry fruit flavors and really really nice tonight.

  • 2009 Robert Sinskey Vineyards Pinot Noir Aries

    very attractive balance with more fruit upfront. its said '35% new french, just like the rest of the Sinskey Pinots' but right now I'm finding more of fruit up in there. 13.7ABV. this wine is really carried on some suave palate texture.

  • 2008 Robert Sinskey Vineyards Pinot Noir Los Carneros

    coming off of the 09 Aries, this carries a much darker red fruit aroma profile. nose doesn't really present much oak. really easing into its trousers. palate also shows quite a bit more substance than the 09 Aries. 14.1ABV is in line. Oak presence on the palate, but in a very harmonious manner.

  • 2007 Robert Sinskey Vineyards Pinot Noir Three Amigos Vineyard Carneros

    aromas coming off quite a bit tighter than either the 08 Carneros or 09 Aries Pinots. Seriously viscous in the glass. some oak pokes its head out of a hole and generally a darker aspect as well. Aries=red fruit, Carneros/Amigo=deeper darker red fruit. Palate displays much more mineral than the previous wines. 13.6ABV Again, super suave fruit texture to the palate and almost a violet thought. medium(-) tannin. this wine is seriously cranking right now.

  • 2007 Robert Sinskey Vineyards POV

    Sweet baby Jesus. This was opened six hours back, poured a little for my hommie, then topped with that cork on til now. Pronounced raspberry and blackberry. Aromas of the red 'chewy sweet tarts.' Iron aromas, rusty machinery. Floral note is the first to jump on the palate. But fruit, floral, mineral, and a real vibrancy to the palate, while maintaining a really balanced approach. Ridge SCM Cab, where are you? POV is seducing me.

  • 2008 Robert Sinskey Vineyards POV

    supposedly this is a much more even-handed approach to Merlot, CabFranc, CabSauv. The Merlot got hit pretty hard in 2008, so it came out to a more balanced mix, but no one really seems to know for sure. 13.3%ABV. Really digging on this again. Tobacco aroma, fresh red fruit aromas. some sort of carignane-style red fruit on the nose. fresh red cherry. palate again in red cherry mode. ripe fruit feel on a lively body style. again a frosty note to the palate and just the lightest nod to any oak. maybe a clove breath towards the finish. and oddly I'm picturing a waterslide!!
