Bring Your Special Bottle Night

Annual Bring Your Special Bottle Night at Crown Wine Cellars, Hong Kong. My first time joining this event. Spectacular evening that went long into the night. The wine was beautifully accompanied by a wonderful menu prepared by the new executive chef at Crown. I will definitely be looking forward to next year's event.

  Served in magnum. Fine champagne. Light/medium gold. Tiny subtle bubbles. Floral and a bit sweet. Finish was shorter than expected.

  Disgorged in early 2000's according to its owner. For its age tasted pretty fresh. Small bubbles. Golden hue. Mushroom notes. Delicious.

  One of the top 3 wines of the night in my view. Pale red color. Extraordinarily vibrant, with very good fruit. Did not fade in the glass. Long finish. One of the best CDPs I have ever tried.

  The bottle had fairly low ullage. Starting to rapidly fade. Caught the tail end of its life before it fell off the cliff. Pale red, still had some vibrancy fruit. Some in the group thought it was much better than my impression. (0 views)

  Very disappointed, but the bottle was completely oxidized. Was obvious from the color, which was a pale pink. Will continue waiting to taste a La Tache.

  Roche Galos bottling. Fairly low shoulder. Light brick color. Amazingly fresh for 100+ year old wine. Strong notes of earth and leather but still has some fruit on the palate. Short finish.

  Came from Nicholas' cellar apparently, so perfect provenance, and it showed. Still fairly dark red with orange tinge. Vibrant, with fruity notes. Long finish.

  This wine needs another 10 years of age. Very austere. Deep purple color with some ruby red on rim. Leather, earth, tobacco with strong cassis and red fruit aromas struggling to get out. Would live to try this next decade.
