Flight 1 - To Start (1 Note)

  • 2002 Domaine Bernard Morey et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes 90 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet

    From half bottle. Greenish yellow colour. On the nose apple notes dominate and we felt no oak notes. On the palate the wines feels its age but still has life and maybe in terms of vibrancy it saw better days still drinks nicely and has a lovely balance to it. 90. Drink now

Flight 2 - The Mains (2 Notes)

    The sommelier at the waterside inn suggested this from the godson of Henry Jayer. It felt like a page from the Drops of God Manga so we couldnt say no! A good advice too.
    Open right from go and we did not decant. Long beautiful red fruit nose, light earth and harmony. Very elegant. On the palate it reminds you this is really a village wine and although very well made it lacks depth. It sort of died off over 1 hour we monitored it so we would suggest to drink now. 91

  • 2002 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Charmes-Chambertin 92 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru

    The nose is open from start but the palate felt a bit tight at this stage so we decanted for about 45 minutes and it help the wine open up. We would recommend decanting at this stage or patience in the glass. Lovery red fruit nose with a dark smokey twist to it. Feells tight and restrained but it maintains an elegance throughout. On the palate it gives little to start but it is of grand cru level depth. Maybe lacks some complexity but it will not dissapoint unless u fathom the price that is. 92/93

Flight 3 - The Deserts (1 Note)

  • 1989 Château de Fesles Bonnezeaux Chapelle Boise 88 Points

    France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Bonnezeaux

    Dark caramel colour set the scene for a very sweet wine. But this is light relatively balanced medium sweet wine. Shame for the harsh bitter notes that spoil the fun. Factor the 200£ we paid this didnt make for a good expirience. 88 at best
