A truly worth experience. Surprise menu means that u don't get to choose but the food is superb and you get to choose how many starters mains etc you want. Good value. Winelist was depleted as it was end of season but ok priced. Good Sommelier/Manager

  • 2000 Château Palmer

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

    (3/30/2012)

Far too young and we regretted opening this and really we should have known better butfollowing a great showing from the pontet canet we took the risk. And lost. We decanted for 1 hour but it did little to help the wine develop. Don't get us wrong this is not a bad wine but with every sip u can't help but imagine the potential of a future tasting. For the moment the nose is the highlight as the tannins on the palate remain firm and chewy. Please please wait another 5 years at minimum.

Just about entering its drinking window now. We decanted as it felt it needed some help to develop. It was a good call. The wine leads with red fruit, some rose notes and with good floral elements. A lovely nose indeed. Well structured and long on the palate with still a bit of firm tannin yet this wine will not dissapoint. 93+

This is an order on sight wine for us. Although less opulent than the 2000 we tried a couple of months back this cuvée has not let us down. Very elegant and balanced nose with textbook cherry notes. So well balanced. On the palate it is firm and requires food, yet not harsh in any way. Good tannin and strength from start to finish with good fruit on the mid palate. 93 for now but this will be 95+ in 3-4 years.
