Introduction
This was an unusual opportunity to compare Chianti from 45 producers. It also provided a chance to asses the impact of Chianti Classico's "Chianti 2000" project, as well as to sample Super Tuscan and Vin Santo wines from a number of the same producers. In all, I tasted through 143 wines.
The producers responsible for my favorite wines at this tasting, wines rated 90 points or higher, were Bini, Castello del Trebbio, Castelvecchio, Fattoria di Grignano, Tenuta Il Corno, Lanciola, Fattoria Lavacchio, Monte Chiaro, Piazzano, Pietro Beconcini, Pieve de' Pitti, Poggio Capponi, Poggiotondo and Tenute di Fraternita Chianti.
