Flight 1 - Whites (4 Notes)

  • 2010 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Grèves Blanc 86 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru

    First thought was that this was quite Riesling-like from the aromatic profile and the zing on the palate. Clean and pure acidity though not lean at all. A complete but not complex wine. Very good for what it is.

  • 2010 Louis Jadot Meursault 1er Cru Charmes 87 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru

    Some hints of greenness and smoke. Oily textured and culminating in a good finish. Rich but stlll a leaner example from the appellation. Could be better but perhaps this was in a reticent stage now.

  • 2010 Louis Jadot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Clos de la Chapelle Domaine du Duc de Magenta 88 Points

    Calm and serious wine. Yeasty on the nose. Acidity was quite searing, definitely need some food with it. Rather refined actually and I quite like it though I could not pinpoint the exact reason.

  • 2010 Louis Jadot Bâtard-Montrachet 90 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru

    Again a very representative example from the appellation. Not really as full-bodied as some Bâtard can be but definitely you can feel the Grand Cru weight (as well as the quintessential chrysanthemum nose). A lot of aromas and flavors going on here that I actually wrote 'exciting'. Outstanding example and a worthy one.

  • 2010 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Couchereaux Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot 85 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru

    Pretty. Hints of soil and fresh red fruits on the nose. Zesty acidity. Sappy sweet red Pinot fruits on the simple but lovely palate. Very good for what it is.

    Extremely pure and terroir driven, a superb example from the vintage. Exciting, lively yet hides an underlying core of solid dry extract. Balanced and elegant. Dependable as always chez Jadot.

  • 2010 Louis Jadot Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Barre 88 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru

    Floral notes emerges from the lightly hued wine. Unmistakably a feminine wine as the flavors tend towards sweet and bright red fruits but this is by no means a light-weight. Hiding behind the elegance is an impressive concentration yet is fresher than the 2006. Silky textured. A seductive wine.

  • 2010 Louis Jadot Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens 88 Points

    This is a bruiser. Meaty and savory on the nose and almost full-bodied. Tannins were a bit rustic but no doubt will integrate well with time. A bold and richly concentrated Pommard. Very impressive persistence and entirely terroir-driven.

    This is a serious wine. A little brooding at the moment but you can sense the huge reserve of extract just hiding in the background. There's a powerful beast hiding here. Needs plenty of time. Outstanding.

    As expected from Vosne, this is a classy wine. Not too showy at the moment but one can sense the depth and complexity here. Structured and very calm. Medium-bodied, not overly rich. A wine of pedigree. Outstanding.

    Notes of blood on the nose. Expresses the terroir of Gevrey very well. A little sourish, perhaps not enough extract to balance the acidity. Slightly disappointing but perhaps I am just nit-picking.

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru

    Undeniably a Grand Cru from the depth of aromas to the rich complexity of the flavor profile to the overall presence. Still very tannic and structured as expected but clearly this is a Clos Vougeot of pedigree. Outstanding.
