    I assume than some wine writers will give this a higher score but for me it was tooo seductive and a very light silk and lacked a little more it needed in body and tannin. A hint of heat at the back of the palate.

    The 2008 has significant more body than the 2005 with dark graphite and dark berry finish. Smooth and seductive but a big brother to 2005

    Elegant and sophisticated but in comparison with the 08 which I was drinking at the same time, it was my number 2. It is probably drinking perfectly at the moment. Although Garen believes this can lay down for a while, i am not sure I would lie down for too many years - a great wine. This was the last year of the winemaker.

  • 2008 Staglin Family Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 96 Points

    Had this with Garen the owner. This is my style of wine. Had it with the 06 which is more elegant and softer overall. This has good heavy tannins and plenty of fruit on the palate, although not on the nose. Full bodied with many more years in it.

  • 2008 George Wine Company Pinot Noir Leras Family Vineyard 89 Points

    This is smoothly seductive and an easy drinking pinot. Almost too smooth that would make you drink it to quickly and then realize what you had done after 3 or 4 glasses.As George reminded me, the none George label side of the bottle is actually the front according to the regulators.

  • 2008 George Wine Company Pinot Noir Hansen Vineyards 88 Points

    Heavy than the Leras Vineyard by George. Interesting grassy almost fizzy start which was confusing.A pleasant and medium bodied Pinot without the metallic, liquorice finish that I do not like.

    Must be the most powerful and best Red I have tasted from Virginia. The petit verdot comes through heavily and this has a very dry finish. No a California cab at all

    As I noted on their Lost Mouintain, these are probably the best reds I have tasted from Virginia. This has a lot of dark fruit and heavy tannins.

    Not a favorite for me. A nice higher end average merlot. 87 may be too high. A fruity nose and in the forefront of the palate.
