The chance to try a few 2011 Bordeaux from the Enomatic machines at The Sampler in London.

I have neither the experience or quality of palate to say what these barrel samples will be like in 2 years when they are in bottle. I did the 2010 EP tasting last year where the wines were much bigger and rounder and brutal than these. From a personal perspective, I wont be buying any Bordeaux 2011 until it is available in bottle.
2011 Château de Fieuzal
France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
From barrel sample. A lot of minerals and black fruit here with a very cool feel to the fruit. The raw ingredients seem good - hopefully barrel time wont swamp the fruit.

2011 Château Talbot
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Julien
From barrel sample. Very smooth and rich with a lots of toffee and coffee. Low tannins and acidity - something that would concern me if I was looking to buy En Primeur.

2011 Château Lilian Ladouys

From Barrel sample. Big ripe but with a very obvious green streak and a slightly odd finish.

2011 Château TrotteVieille

En Primeur tastiing. Very high acidity with a fresh streak. Dark fruit with a crunchy feel to it.

2011 Château Poujeaux
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Moulis en Médoc
EP tasting. This is an estate that just punches well above its weight every year. Lot of coffee and crunchy, red, brisk fruit on the palate here - medium bodied. A lot of promise here, especially when you consider it is £165 a case. Enjoyable stuff - the raw ingredients look pretty good.

2011 Château Malartic-Lagravière Blanc

En Primeur tasting. I thought this showed a lot of promise - on the nose a lot of sauvignon blanc grassy notes but on the palate this is already really seductive. I reckon this could be worth a punt.

2011 Château Brown Blanc

En Primeur tasting. I thought this lovely stuff - good ingredients, very broad on the palate with white flowers, some minerals as well as sharper elements. A buy for me.

2011 Château Doisy-Daëne

En Primeur tasting. Not a fan of this one - I found the nose was wonderful but the palate lacked some zip and freshness. Very rich, maybe too rich.
