2010 Collioure Argille Blanc—Great Grenache Blanc acidity without the flat/dead mid-palate I sometimes get. Apricot and apricot pit. A little ginger and lemon zest. Smells like sea air.

2010 Collioure Rosé Côté Mer—A little black pepper and grapey from the Syrah. A sense of sweet on the attack (Cargnan or Grenache?) but very dry on the finish. Great acidity. In a black glass this would totally fool me (Right after I told HRH, Pierre, who had left to get more wine, re-entered the room and said that in a black glass it would probably fool us!) The aftertaste is a little rose petal.

2009 Collioure Côté Mer Rouge—All tannin and black fruit. Mostly black cherry with bitter on the finish. Acidity is good. A much leaner style that Southern Rhône. Might be really fun with a very lean steak. Really shows its “Grenacheness.” Lots of garrigue. Made in a non-manipulative style.

2009 Collioure L’Oriental—A little dried fruit on the nose. This one is better in balance. Has a taste of sweet Banyuls terroir on the fruit. Still strong tannins but has nice acidity. Maybe a little wild raspberry after the fact. Would love to try this with wild boar.

2009 Collioure Côté Montagne—None of the dried fruit taste of L’Oriental but incredible richness from mountain fruit. Nose is almost CdP-style Grenache. Shows a little smoke and the usual black cherry, but a big dose of red as well. Walnut shell tannins. Very smooth with long finish.
2009 Banyuls Cuvée T. Parcé—MUCH more complexity. Some menthol and mint. Very full mouthfeel. More of the blackberry on this one, but with a great tannic backbone. Bought this one.
NV L’Oublée Rancio Blanc—A Solera-style experiment with Grenache Gris. All nuts (especially sweet almond) on the nose. More walnut meat on the palate. Dried apricot with peel. Some tart apple (weird). Also lots of white (not too sweet) flowers. Nutmeg. LOVE IT.
