Double blind tasting. Decanted almost 2 hours before serving. Red fruit, moderate spice,very lush, well textured, forward and accessible. At its peak, I wouldn't expect any more complexity to develop in this wine.

Double blind tasting. Served at first without decanting. Seemed tight on nose and palate. Very masculine and firm black fruit with a dense, meaty character. This came across as needing plenty of time. Bottle was subsequently decanted, and when revisited an hour later, showed some greater greater length and spice. Score based on second tasting.
Double blind tasting. There was no doubt in my mind this was Côte-Rôtie, with the wine's great black pepper and bacon character. I thought it older because it seemed more balanced and subtle than I'd expect from a 2001. Very elegantly structured and textured. this continues to be a wine that will be better in another decade. I am glad I own a 6-pack.

Very accessible today with fairly firm red fruit aromas and flavors. Well textured and spicy and quite charming. I brought this to the blind tasting, and never would have thought it from Gevrey-Chambertin.

Tasted double blind. slightly floral start. All red fruit with lots of spice, but still subtle and energetic. Impressive at every level ,w ith great balance coming through already today.

Tasted double blind. This is a library release bottle, recently arrived from the Domaine. Tough to assess because this was popped, decanted and then immediately poured. Since this was tasted blind, I thought this from a much younger well structured vintage, perhaps 2002 or even 2005 (!). There was no doubt about fruit quality and power here, just a question about overall integration.
