Flight 1 - "Pre" Whites (served double blind) (2 Notes)

  • 2007 Rex Hill Chardonnay 87 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Ripe lemon, chard nose. Medium bodied with high acidity. Tart lemon, lime and lemon sherbet. Tongue tingling acidity, which normally I enjoy but it was a bit out of balance here. Guessed village Chablis from a high-acid year like '07.

  • 2007 Marynissen Estates Cabernet Franc

Canada, Ontario, Niagara Peninsula, Niagara-on-the-Lake VQA

Lots of sediment in my glass so no score on this one. Funky, mature, forest floor nose. Medium to full bodied with light to medium acidity. Brambly fruit, raspberry and blackberry. Medium+ tannins, probably due to the sediment.
