  Medium lemon-like yellow green. Tropical fruits like pineapple, mellon and floral scents on the nose. Medium-bodied, refreshing with sufficient acidity and a medium, floral aftertaste. Drink now to 2013.

• 2011 Karadimos Family Malagousia Oak Fermented 89 Points

  Greece, Continental Greece, Attica, Parnassou

  Medium yellow-green. Intense toast, floral aromas, peach and some herbal scents. Med+ bodied, mouthfilling, with generous fruit and balancing acidity. Long, persistant aftertaste. Will improve after 1 year or so of cellaring. A very interesting oaked version of malagouzia.

  A blend of malagouzia and assyrtico. Med-light lemony. Cheesy and soapy aromas on the nose overshadowing the fruit. Totally unpleasurable.

  Last wine of the first flight. Medium yellow-green. Expressive nose with tropical fruits like guava, herbs and nice green scents, making it the most sauvignon blanc-like wine of the bunch. Medium-bodied, vibrant, with bright fruit and balancing acidity. Fairly long aftertaste. Ready to drink.

• 2010 Domaine Gerovassiliou Malagousia Single Vineyard 87 Points

  The wine reviewed here, is the Greek version, with a different bottle and label to that on the picture, and the use of oak maturation for part of the wine (not officialy declared by the winemaker). Intense mango and passion fruit, white flowers and peach on the nose. Medium to full-bodied, sweet, with ripe fruit and modererate acidity. Medium aftertaste. Somewhat viognier-like. Considering this wine's popularity and easy to like character, it was not a surprise that it received most votes from the tasters.

• 2011 Wine Art Estate Malagousia Techni Alipias 85 Points

  First vintage for this winery's malagouzia. Light straw with green hues. Tropical fruits, peach and floral scents on the nose. Medium-bodied with adequate acidity. Medium aftertaste. This wine received zero votes, despite the fact that there was nothing wrong about it, except, maybe, a lack of personality.

• 2011 T-Oinos Malagousia 83 Points

  This is by far the priciest of all the wines tasted and the least expressive, with dough and not much else on the nose. Medium-bodied with weak fruit and adequate acidity. Medium aftertaste. We opened 2 bottles that were exactly identical, so not an off-bottle case, which makes me wonder how on earth I was so enthused about this the previous time I had it.

  Very expressive with stone fruits, flowers and tropical scents. Med-bodied, off-dry (this wimery's signature style) with balancing acidity and a medium+ aftertaste. A wine made to please the masses.
