Have had 3 of these now, like many who comment on this wine this is a wine I drink a lot of every vintage... a very brightly colored, slightly effervescent, aromatic (lots of those strawberry mercapto alcohols), dry rose with great freshness/acidity. Not the most vinous rose out there... quite light on its feet. Absolutely love the style and the wine, for me about as good as rose gets.

  • 2004 Domaine Francois et Antoine Jobard Meursault En La Barre 89 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault

I have had so much bottle variation with this wine... this bottle had deep color, golding at the rim. Aromatically it was intense with lots of nuts and minerals, some baking spice (more Meursault than the bottle in 2009). On the palate the wine has high acidity, a rich and round, creamy midpalate, moderate alcohol. Great balance, good length, great intensity, very good complexity. Decent finesse, very fine texture, excellent expression of place. This bottle felt like it was at its peak... think its time to get at these.

  • 2006 Arnaud Ente Volnay 1er Cru Santenots-Du-Milieu 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru

Ruby purple rim, low depth of color, rim shows low to moderate efforts of extraction. Aromatically this is full of red fruits, flowers, and minerals. Minimal new oak influence. On the palate the wine has high acidity, a light midpalate that has plenty of depth, very fine tannins of moderate ripeness, low to moderate alcohol. After a bit of time in the decanter this was aromatically quite exuberent. Great balance, good length, great intensity, average complexity at this stage. Wine has great finesse, a very fine texture, great expression of place. This wine certainly has the depth of flavor and acidity to improve with age though drinks well now with some air. A lot of personality in this wine... everything is very well integrated for such a young wine... very clear aromas and flavors... I was impressed.

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru

The last bottle of this for me... it continues to flesh out and get better... still has the hallmarks of the 04 vintage = a bit lean, a bit green, very transparent and clear aromas and flavors... still has the hallmarks of a Mugnier wine = light in appearance, delicate in aroma, plenty of depth on the palate. If I had more of this I would wait a year and see if it continues to improve (as it puts on flesh the wine's balance improves as the added palate weight helps with the slight bit of green-ness). This bottle certainly had the depth of flavor, balance, and acidity/tannins to hold for 2-4. A lot to like in this wine.

  • 2000 Domaine Trapet Chambertin 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru

Better showing for this bottle... compared to the other two reds the weight, power, and grand cru-ness of this wine really stood out (one might say duh, compared to an 04 Mugnier Marechale and 06 Ente Santenots, point taken). The wine has yet to develop a detailed, crazy complex aromatic signature and it may never do so, but texturally this wine does perform at a solid grand cru level. This wine has the depth of flavor, structure to improve with age and I think I'll wait a couple of years before trying the next bottle just to see what happens... it does have a slightly adolescent feel to it.

The variation in style from different terroir, vintage, producer was pretty interesting with the red Burgs...
