  • 1996 Pol Roger Champagne Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill 96 Points

    France, Champagne

We were in an utterly charming gazebo on the terrace of the Waterside Inn in Bray-on-Thames when we savoured this. Rich colour; wonderful complex nose of honey, butter, stewed fruit, even meaty notes, some nutty evolution; rounded and rich, beautiful balance; excellent length.

  • 2001 Caves Duplessis Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

Wonderful rich colour; on the nose dazzling minerals, acidity, cream, honey and spices; juicy, dry and very rich, convincing finesse, lovely yellow fruit but transcending into its second phase; lovely smoky length.

  • 2005 Domaine Dujac Morey-Saint-Denis 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey-Saint-Denis

Wonderful expression of grape, terroir and vintage. Magnificent fruit of sweet cherries, minerally depth - iron ofcourse, well-sheathed tannins, a work in progress but what great potential!
