  rather muted but slightly open. fresh picked berry nose - bing cherry, phenolic, sawdust. sappy palate with dusty tannins. promising. needs another 7-10 years.

  muted. extremely bitter. black licorice root, espresso, mud, clay and a bit green. harsh tannins. not much of a preview but i'm not so sure it will be anything special when the tannins round out. needs min 10+ years.

  a bit open. more weight and minerally mouthfeel than the Savigny-lès-Beaune AC. a bit more tannins as well. stalky and green though with some phenolic bitterness.

  absolutely stunning! my WOTN! elegant, unctuous, and very rich. white blossoms, honey suckle, brown butter, baked pear, melon. Very tiny flecks of minerals etched into a very detailed midpalate. layers and layers of flavors as well as incredible length.

  closed nose. full bodied and elegant - more rewarding on the palate. creamy mouthfeel, gentle tannins, creamy finish - like raspberry coulis. probably most interesting red of the night.

Given the lauded praise of the 2009 vintage for both reds and whites, I feel like the whites outperformed the reds. reds from average crus/ villages were at best average whilst whites from even less covetous white burg zip codes were brilliant.
