2011 Domaine du Tariquet Côtes de Gascogne Rosé de pressée 86 Points
France, Southwest France, Gascony, Côtes de Gascogne
SRP: $10. An extremely aromatic nose of juicy, fresh strawberries. In the background, however, there’s something slightly awkward and flat. Lots of acidity on the front of the palate, but the wine has a short finish. A pleasant, simple rosé.

2011 Domaine de Gournier Côtes de Provence Rosé 85 Points
France, Provence, Côtes de Provence
SRP: $10. On the nose, sweet, wild cherry cough drops with strawberry compote in the background. The palate, while pleasant, is lacking in acidity.

2011 Matchbook Rosé of Tempranillo 85 Points
USA, California, Central Valley, Dunnigan Hills
SRP: $10. A beautiful nose of bright cherries, melon, and raspberries, with a hint of sage, eucalyptus, and other herbs. The palate is oddly sweet and seriously lacking in acidity.

2011 Château Guiot Costières-de-Nîmes Rosé 85 Points
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Costières-de-Nîmes
SRP: $10. The nose isn’t terribly aromatic, but it’s seductive – perfectly ripe strawberries and a hint of fresh watermelon and watermelon rind. The palate is balanced, but has an odd note of rubbing alcohol. Overall, it’s an enjoyable wine.

2011 Envolve Rosé 89 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Mountain
SRP: $25. Wow – the nose is explosive and delightful. Bright, red raspberries, sweet strawberries, and perfectly ripe watermelon. On the palate, the wine starts strong with great depth and good acidity, but there’s some awkward (and unnecessary) sugar at the finish.

SRP: $10. The nose somehow presents both under-ripe raspberries and candied strawberries. The palate is crisip and simple.

SRP: $11. On the nose, a simple rosé with sweet, juicy strawberries and little else. The palate is fresh, with fantastic acidity.

SRP: $14. A light, fresh nose of summertime, strawberries, and fresh roses – with some bright, sweet spices underneath. The palate is very pleasant, if a bit flat.

SRP: $12. The nose is explodes with orange marmalade, followed by a hint of white flowers. The palate is shockingly dry, but it’s awkward.

SRP: $12. A beautiful, fresh nose of watermelon rind and delicate strawberry juice. The palate is balanced, elegant, and delightful. A delicious wine.

SRP: $11. The nose is seductive – fresh strawberries, some cinnamon and clove, and ripe raspberries. The palate is fantastic -- well-balanced, well-structured, great acidity, and tasty.

SRP: $10. A big, herbaceous rosé that’s full of ripe, red fruits and watermelon rind. Great elegance and acidity – quite delicious.

2011 Field Stone Petite Sirah Rosé Heritage Block 90 Points

SRP: $20. A shockingly dark rosé – it almost looks like a Beaujolais. On the nose, fresh cranberries meet sweet strawberries and a hint of candied cherries and graphite. The palate, while weighty, is light on its feet and well-balanced, with zippy acidity.

2011 Cornerstone Cellars Syrah Stepping Stone Corallina Rosé 91 Points

SRP: $20. On the nose, an amazingly rich, juicy rosé that smells like the flesh of freshly bit strawberries, raspberries, and cherries, with a hint of lemon rind and lees. The palate is full, serious, balanced, and delicious, if a bit heavy for my tastes.

2011 Domaine Thomas & Fils Sancerre Terres Blanches Rosé 92 Points

SRP: $25. The nose is incredibly inviting – and the palate matches. Pink grapefruit, lemon juice, and other citrus notes that are reminiscent of strawberry lemonade. Perfectly balanced on the palate, with bracing acidity. A fantastic rosé.
