    Tasting at winery. Fresh strawberry and raspberry aromas. Similar fruit on palate, but somewhat pale. Lighter styled fruit works well with modest structure, all of which result in a pleasant but simple wine.

    Tasting at winery. Dark cherry aromas with some plum hints. similar fruit profile on palate with a slightly smoky character. Moderate spice comes through near end. A bit firm now, better in another year or two.

    Tasting at winery. Great aromas to start, with black cherry, cocoa and licorice. Big fruit on palate with a lean start, more lush finish. Hold for 2 years, very good potential and value.

  • 2001 Provenance Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 92 Points

    Tasting at winery. Blackberry aromas with plum hints. Similar fruit on palate with great licorice and chocolate. Long finish with great spice emerging. So much concentration and balance already, but I expect this will keep improving through 2008 or 2009 and then drink beautifully for close to a decade. Great value.

    Tasting at winery. Plum and black cherry with cassis hints on nose. Black cherry on palate, well structured and textured. Very good overall, but not necessarily better than the wonderful Provenance 2001 Oakville Cabernet also tasted.

    Tasting at winery. Huge blackberry aromas. Very rounded and accessible on palate, same lush fruit, well integrated with oak and tannins.

    Tasting at winery. Bold fruit and lots of robust spice aromas. Same fruit on palate with fairly assertive tannins today, so hold to 2007 or later. Lots of power and concentration on finish.

    Tasting at tasting room. Closed aromas, slight funk and mustiness. (Bottle had been open several hours.) Modest black fruit with more prominent structure for now. Better after 2007 I imagine.

    Tasting at winery. Rich, ripe fruit dominates aromatically. Blackberry flavors, moderately intense with a sweet trace near end. Nicely balanced to start on palate, good structure comes through from middle to finish.
