Introduction
Eleven of us gathered for a fun night trying some young Barolos while partaking of some very good food.
Flight 1 - Barolos (7 Notes)
Flight 2 - Dessert Wine (1 Note)
Closing
The class of the night were the Domenico Clerico wines. Finishing #1 and tied for #2. The Massolino was outstanding as well. The Manzones show promise, but were not ready to really show.

2003 Aurelio Settimo Barolo Rocche 88 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Medium red color. Nose shows leather, some dust, dry earth, cherry. The palate is light bodied and shows raisin, game, cherry, tannic, spices, woody, glycerin, Thin on the mid palate and finish.

2000 Massolino Barolo Parafada 92 Points

Medium dark red color. This has a i hour decant was venturied. Drank one glass over 30 minues. Nice nose, sweet, vanilla, cedar, strawberry, brown sugar, smoke, cinnamon. The palate is very nice, plush, red fruits of dried cherries and strawberry, dusty, nice tannins, very elegant, long finish. This was drinking really well. My #3 and tied for group #2 WOTN.

2004 Giovanni Manzone Barolo Le Gramolere 90 Points

Medium brick red color. Drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. Nose is tight, red fruit, dried flowers, anise, cherry, berry, a bit metallic. The palate is dry with firm round tannins, red fruit, slight oak, a little thin on the mid palate, medium finish. This showed some potential, but needs another 3+ years. 90+pts.

2004 Giovanni Manzone Barolo Bricat 90 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Medium red color. Drank 1 glass over 40 minutes. Nose has dried brush, earth, light florals, red fruits, herbs, spice. The palate is medium-light bodied, good acid, red fruits, dry spices, wood, more tannic than the Le Gromolere. Another wine in need of significant time.

2004 Domenico Clerico Barolo Pajana 93 Points

Very dark red color. Drank 1.5 glasses over 1 hr plus. Nose shows ripe dark fruit, blackberry, sweet, spices, leather, florals, oak, and really nice damp wet earth that emerges with about 20 minutes of air, and a touch of Ben Gay. The palate is gorgeous, round and full bodied, raspberry, blackberry, lush, deep and layered, round tannins, mineral, spices, and a long finish. My #2 WOTN and tied for group #2 WOTN.

2004 Domenico Clerico Barolo Ciabot Mentin Ginestra 94 Points

Very dark red color. Drank 1 glass over 45 moinutes. Huge nose with earth, flowers, ripe blackfruits of black raspberry and black cherry, spices. The palate is intense, deep and layered, big tannins that are approachable, spice, some oak. This is great stuff now and has even more potential. My and group #1 WOTN.

2006 Parusso Barolo Bussia 89 Points

Very dark red color. Drank 1 glass over 20 minutes. Herbal with some subtle cherry and dark berries, asian spices, mineral . The palate is mineral driven, flinty stones, caramel, tart dark red fruit, spices, firm tannins. Young.
