Tasting at winery. Moderate black fruit aromas with some smoke and tobacco. Also moderate fruit intensity on palate, still firmly structured giving a slightly inaccessible character today. Finish shows increased spice, making me think this has upside from here.

1998 Whitehall Lane Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 90 Points

Tasting at winery. Nose shows rich black cherry, good floral elements plus some good oak-based spice. Fruit follows through well onto palate, nicely balanced with good spice as well, particularly on finish. Accessible and close to balanced now, probably better in a year or two. Quite good for the vintage.
