Introduction
A wonderful chance to try the new style of Faiveley wines in a great vintage - comprising premier and grand cru vineyards. The owners of 120 hectares of vineyards, Faiveley wines seem to me to be beautifully balanced with great tension in a refined and slightly lighter style.
2010 Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Saint Georges 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru
900 bottles made. light mineral nose, some white pepper, balance raspberry fruit. tight and structured in the mouth, very well balanced wine with a reasonable amount of very well judged oak. brilliant length. there is currently a petition to make this a grand cru.

2010 Faiveley Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Combe aux Moines 88 Points

light ruby, some spice, some leather and mushroom character. noticeable acid adds verve to the palate. light but balanced - very mineral andfresh. very nice. from the upper slopes - slightly cooler.

much more intense than the Combes aux moines Gevrey bottle. fatter in the mouth but still light with great balance delicacy and harmony. has both intensity and generosity. the fruit oak balance is understated and features texture versus density. outstanding.

ripe dark cherries - very mineral - a beautiful wine in the mouth - lovely ripeness with perfect balance. great length. a delicate and refined wine that is a class act.

2010 Faiveley Clos Vougeot 92 Points

dense and rich with lovely balance in a new style burgundy. high alcohol. this is approachable and features lovely truffle scents and superb texture. for all of the focus of this wine there is also a sense of transparency. top stuff.

superb nose - toasted oak, velvet texture - quite ripe but again a modern yet beautiful balance. very bright and ripe wine. lots of oak apparent. this is slightly less open but one would be hard pressed to call it monolithic. lots to like in this wine - a class act. i enjoyed the ripe nature of the Mazis-Chambertin terroir.

dense nose - a tight wine with heaps of potential. absolutely outstanding - classic iron fist in a velvet glove kind of wine. spice with ripeness and balance, acid and marked minerality. this will age well.

2010 Faiveley Corton-Clos des Cortons Faiveley 95 Points

monopole. mineral, slight toast, peppery raspberry/pinot fruit. highish acid. a fleshy style kept in check by its acid. more of a fruit driven wine than the 2010 Chambertins - its "juicy-fruit" style is easy to like yet there is clearly lots of potential here (and just as structured) . very different style to the big Chambertins.
