Not even close to the quality level of another bottle from the same case opened a few months ago. Floral aromas with lots of ripe fruit and big spice, but alas...there it was...modest premature oxidation. Still drinkable and enjoyable, but this slowly deteriorated over the course of the dinner.
Bottle had signs of fairly recent leakage and mid/low shoulder fill. Still this had very good aromas of tobacco, mature black currant, old leather. Good, balanced flavors of lingering fruit and spice and reduced ceps. At first I thought this simple and enjoyable, suggesting it will fade in 30 minutes. Wrong! This held steady or improved over 2 hours open.
Dense black fruit aromas with a powerful, horsey aroma. Also dense and backward on palate. What this lacks in charm and nuance, it makes up in concentration and density.
Aromas of ripe stone fruit with some marzipan and toasted walnuts. Similar flavor profile on palate, with good concentration and texture. Very good length.
