    Bottle and barrel tasting with Dick Shea. Very floral and interesting aromas. Flavors unfold on a very interesting, long finish. Also shows good spice on finish. well done.

    Barrel tasting at Shea. Nice fresh fruit on nose, somewhat on the riper, blacker side. Palate shows a bit darker than the nose. Most likely a young drinker.

    Barrel tasting. Big fruit on nose and palate with reasonably prominent oak. Fairly good spice gives the wine some elegance and nuance, but the ripe fruit, heat and oak are most of what stands out.

    Barrel tasting. Aromatics are nicely perfumed with some good dark fruit. Palate shows black cherry, blackberry and then a hint of blueberry on the finish. Fruit's powerful frame holds up to the oak better than the others in the shea 2003 lineup, but the heat is a bit disorienting, mostly on the finish. I think this one has the best potential of the wines I tasted to become completely harmonious.

    Tasting. Dark fruit aromas and flavors with lots of structure in forefront to start, fruit and spice re-emerging niceyl on finish. Very good potential as this integrates better 2007 or later. 70% Shea fruit.

    Tasting at winery. Red cherry, raspberry aromas with a nicely oaked, perfumed character. Similar fruit profile on palate, still a bit firmly structured today, give to 2006 or later.

    Tasting at winery. Fresh red and black cherry aromas with slightly more prominent new oak spice. Same fruit and spice on palate, give this a few years to better integrate, it seems to have the bones to hold well to 2012.

    Tasting at winery. Black cherry aromas with some plum and liqueur hints, plus pepper, cloves and cocoa. Overall similar on palate, perhaps less spice, more fruit. Long finish , firmly structured for now. Certainly needs until at least 2007.

    Tasting at winery. Good aromas to start with good black cherry but a bit dominated by new oak. Fruit less forthcoming on palate. Give this some time in cellar, but not my favorite wine in the lineup for its price.
