    Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico DOCG

    Nose: A lot of coffee, leather.
    Palate: Very metallic, some blood. Very little fruit left.
    Still alive but very tired :-)

    Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alavesa, Rioja

    Nose: Toasted coconut and mushrooms.
    Palate: Still some fruit left but a little sweet. Coffee and dark plums.
    Impressive for its age! 80-85p

  • 1961 Château Cos d'Estournel 86 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Estèphe

    Smokey hay on the nose with a little green bell pepper and misc spices.
    Mild and pleasant palate with leather but only a little fruit left. Lacks a little flavor but otherwise a very "comfortable" wine.
    Compared to other notes the bottle was perhaps a little off?

  • 1961 Château Calon-Ségur 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Estèphe

    Intense and quite complex nose. Packed with hay and coffee with minor hints of sewer, barnyard and dried spices.
    Quite a bit of fruit left on the palate, dark plums/cherries. Impressively young for such an old wine with a solid intensity.
    A great bottle of wine!

  • 1961 Château Malescot St. Exupéry 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

    Beautiful and intense nose with pine needles and black currant leaves that present a very youthful expression. There is also some notes of rust, blood and meat.
    The palate has plenty of fresh black currants and it seems young still. There is a little rust in the end with a little blood also.
    Very impressive wine that I just adored!!

  • 1961 Château L'Arrosée 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

    Impressive black currant nose with a little lead pencil also.
    Youthful palate with a good fruit core of plums. Still fairly young tannins and a solid acidity.

  • 1970 Château Latour Grand Vin 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    Quite a funky nose with blackberry fruit and cabbage and the alcohol is really shining through.
    Elegant but unfortunately a little weak on the palate but it does still seem quite young.
    With more air it does seem to open up nicely and presents itself with authority and presence. Almost aristocratic.
    Still an impressive wine that with even more air could merit a higher score.

    Cabbage and fart on the nose with a little coffee. Complex.
    Fresh young fruit on the palate with an elegant touch. Coffee and well-integrated tannins.

    France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes

    Very intense nose packed with apricots and sweetness with a hint of old cheese.
    Full bodied apricot flavors dominate the palate with an impressive bitterness in the long and very impressive aftertaste.
    Loads of acidity and botrytis. Tastes like an old wine but still very fresh.
    An inspiring bottle and just beautifully created.
