Introduction

The Saturdays at One group got together this past weekend on Sunday (we've been doing that a lot lately since several of the group are "ITB" and have to work retail on Saturday) to taste some wine over a few light snacks. The theme for the tasting was "Spanish Speaking Countries". Here are the results:

Flight 1 - Sparkling flight (1 Note)

Light pink color in the glass, clear looking throughout with medium, steady beading. Nose of cherries, strawberries and raspberries. Flavors of black raspberries, cherries and red berries. Bright acidity, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold.

2009 Terrazas de Los Andes Malbec Reserva 90 Points

Tasted double blind. Opened and served immediately.

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of blueberries, cocoa powder and white pepper. Flavors of blueberries, cocoa powder and berries. Medium acidity, medium tannins, medium to full bodied. Drink now with a little air or continue to hold another year or so.

My guess was this is the 2009 Terrazas Malbec.

Garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of licorice, white pepper and plums. Palate was muddy like dishwater with some tart berries thrown in. Medium acidity, medium tannins, medium body. Drink now. Seems past prime and maybe then some at this point. Therefore no rating.

NOTE: this was the second of two bottles. The first bottle had suspicious provenance.
