best bottle night

Great night, great wines, good group of 7 guys. #1 for me a Chateau Musar 1999 from a magnum, tasted like a great bordeau, smooth, 95pts. #2 surprised me greatly as it was a Pinot Noir that I did not espect to standout against the big cabs. Lynmar Estate Quail Hill vineyard, 2007, clearly the best Pinot I have ever had. amazing variety of flavors,smooth, can't wait to have again. #3 was a Joseph Phelps 2002 Insignia, a big boy. I don't think we gave it enough decant time as for me it didn't really open up till the very end. 91pts. For at least one other, this was the "1 rated wine. My wine was an 06 Quilceda Creek, another big boy. It was too young and never really opened up even though it had been decanted for 3+hours. 90pts. We also had a Hoopes 08 Cab, 90pts and a Zanoli 06 Valpolicella that was very good, although I would need more to make a better judgement.
