  • 2004 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Chambertin 82 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru

I wanted to like this but it was a serious disappointment. Roasted green beans and a grassy/herbaceous element in the background. The palate is poor, with no generosity of flavour and no real depth.

  • 2007 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Chambertin 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru

Earth, stalks and cherry notes on the nose. Palate has beautiful purity of fruit, with a very long and balanced finish. Lovely wine that is set for a wonderful future.

  • 2007 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru

From a half bottle. Beautifully expressive nose of cherry, rose petals and strawberry. An interesting contrast to the dense, brooding 2008 Musigny. Palate is bright and long, with depth and complexity. A genuinely brilliant wine.

  • 2008 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru

Dense and brooding nose, black cherry and meaty elements. An interesting contrast to the expressive and bright 2007 Musigny. Great power, structure and intensity on the palate. Incredible potential, I just barely prefer the 2007 now, but I hope to get to try them both again in 10-15 years!
