Introduction

Stopped by Domaine to hang out with some friends. Some nice wines were opened and we were jolly.

  • 1999 Delamotte Champagne Blanc de Blancs Millésimé 90 Points

    France, Champagne

    Great fruit, great minerality and great acidity. Loved the yeastiness and thought the pear and apple tones were nicely balanced. Great stuff.

  • 1985 Dominus Estate 92 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

    Still very fresh and rich, this was a great bottle of wine. Lovely rustic nose with crushed rock, dry-aged beef, lead, red fruit and spices. The palate was lithe and feminine yet packed fruit, smoke and earth. The tannins were smooth and integrated on the finish. Great stuff!

  • NV Roses de Jeanne / Cédric Bouchard Champagne Inflorescence Blanc de Noirs

    Hazelnut, pear and baked bread composed this powerful nose. The palate was taut - just bursting with energy. Thought it needed some time to unravel a bit..just a bit too young to really get a read on it.

    Zesty nose of fresh herbs, lemon and stone. The body was very nice - lemons, fresh herbs and a subtle smokiness to it. Enjoyed this a lot.

  • 1998 Domaine René Leclerc Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St. Jacques 89 Points

    France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru

    Very bright nose of cinnamon, mushroom and cherries. The palate had a good deal of iodine tone to it with sharp acidity - an interesting blend with the floral, earthy and red-fruited core. With some air the acidity on the palate smoothed out a bit and the wine became a bit more harmonious to me. '98s seem to be drinking well now.

  • 2002 Domaine Truchot-Martin Bourgogne 92 Points

    France, Burgundy, Bourgogne

    A kick ass wine that's probably drinking close to its peak. Just lovely fresh floral notes with beautiful red fruit and undertones of smoked meat and mushrooms. A wonderful blend of fruit and earth - incredibly exciting wine.

  • 2004 H. Billiot Fils Champagne Grand Cru Brut Millésimé 92 Points

    France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

    Beautiful mousse, hazelnut and yeast on the nose. The palate was really fresh and vibrant with deep and dense hazelnut and fresh apple tones. Had incredible backbone and verve to it. Just a wonderful champagne.
