2009 Saxon-Brown Chardonnay Durell Vineyard 91 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
SRP: $48. On the nose, melon, white flower, and riverbed, backed by elegant toasted oak and restrained butter. On the palate, more citrus notes come through. A well-structured, well-balanced wine with a great acid profile.

2009 Mayacamas Vineyards Chardonnay 90 Points
USA, California, Napa Valley, Mt. Veeder
SRP: $30. The wine opens with melon, lemon rind, white peaches, and mcintosh apples, along with some sweet butter. Very bright on the palate, with stronger citrus fruits, some minerality, and a hint of oak. A very serious wine.

2009 Gary Farrell Chardonnay Westside Farms 91 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
SRP: $38. Very ripe, tropical fruits on the nose – pineapple, mango, and sweet lime juice, baked by wonderfully sweet baking spices, butter, and vanilla. The palate is full-bodied and intense, yet remarkably bright with a long finish.

2009 La Follette Chardonnay Manchester Ridge Vineyard 92 Points
USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino Ridge
SRP: $48. A serious nose of ripe pear, fresh peaches, and beautiful herbs like lavender and white flowers. The palate is richer, showing tropical fruit, lemon curd, and a hint of butter and oak. Very tasty.

2009 Dierberg Chardonnay 91 Points

SRP: $32.00. The nose is explosively aromatic – ripe apples, Asian pears, and almonds. The palate is delightful and well-structured – some citrus notes emerge, along with a great deal of energy.

2011 Gracianna Chardonnay Suzanne's Blend 89 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
SRP: $34. Ripe pears, green apples, lime zest, and a hint of creamy butter. The palate is refreshing and crisp – and both lush and acid-driven. Although it shows a hint of alcohol at the finish, it’s impressive wine that would match just about anything.

SRP: $38. A fascinating nose of almonds, sweet baking spices, Asian pear, and lime. The palate is equally fascinating, showing some savory notes and toast.

2010 Domaine Serene Chardonnay Evenstad Reserve 93 Points

SRP: $55. The nose is rich yet elegent; it comes off as a serious Burgundy – ripe Chardonnay fruit marked by fresh green apples and lime, along with some toasted oak. The palate matches, with fantastic structure and balance.

2010 Spotted Owl Vineyards Chardonnay 88 Points

SRP: $45. Tart apple mixed with pineapple and honey makes for a fascinating nose. On the palate, some alcohol shows itself, but the oak is restrained and the acid is exceptionally bright.

SRP: $22. A beautiful nose of bright, ripe fruit lemon rind, lime, and tart apples along with slate minerality. The palate shows more sweetness and some creaminess. A delicious wine.

2010 Cave de Lugny Mâcon-Lugny Les Charmes 86 Points

SRP: $15. While not terribly aromatic, the wine is marked by subtle green apple and melon, and just a hint of minerality. The palate is very simple (this wine clearly hasn’t seen oak), but also very enjoyable.

SRP: $38. The nose, while marked by butter, is both fresh and elegant – marked by sweet apples, lemon curd, and oak. The palate has extraordinary acidity that brings the wine in balance. A serious wine for California Chardonnay lovers.

SRP: $28. The nose is marked by tropical fruits, pineapple, and lime rind, but somehow remains restrained. The palate shows more lemon notes and bright citrus fruit. Not terribly complex, but a quite gulpable.
