A delightful chardonnay. Exuberant sweet lemon, gun flint, pear, and undertones of truffle. Had almost a chablis-like nature to the palate...light, airy, but packed a denser flavor than chablis. Great acidity on the finish.
Drank this over 3 days. At first the red fruit really came through with wet leaves, and that usual weediness that seems to linger on the finish of Foillard wines. On day 2 the meatiness of the palate picked up and there was a nice beef jerky thing going on...dense and exotic. When it faced the firing squad on day three this was pure cranberry with a floral lift. It had mellowed, but hadn't lost any complexity. A superb wine as always.

Another beautiful Clos des Briords. Great crushed rock, sea air and lemon. Doesn't have the lushness of the 2010, but still a fantastic wine.
