12/11 disgorgement. I think this may have been an off bottle. Very sweet and caramelly, like pastry with caramel sauce. Missing all the cut and minerality one would expect.
Cloudy w/ serious bricking. Still some black fruit on the nose, but the fruit is secondary in prominence; mostly there's tar and earth and a serious amount of ground pepper (almost syrah-like), with a slight floral note emerging with time. In the mouth there's just enough fruit left to pull together all the savory stuff, with that ground pepper especially prominent. The tannins are pretty much resolved, and this was probably better 10 years ago, but it's still quite tasty if you like old wine.

Very nuits-y, with lots of black fruit, earth, menthol, iron on the nose. At first it's a little chunky and the prominent tannins, while smooth and not fierce, are in control, but with some air the fruit starts to wake up and everything comes into balance. Drinks quite nicely now but still on the up I think.
This is the best cabernet-based wine I've had in a while. The nose shows tons of graphite, with redcurrant fruit and just a touch of green. With air a cedary note becomes more noticeable. The palate is complete and full but elegant, with rich redcurrant and cranberry fruit perfectly balanced by acidity you rarely see in Napa cab. Tannins are mostly resolved and this is at peak, but there's just enough structure left to hold everything together. Wonderful.
Good wine but blown away by the 87 on the table next to it. Rich ripe nose of dark berry fruit, still quite primary, a bit of graphite. In the mouth the fruit is tarter and more cassisy, and still quite structured, with ripe and fine but substantial tannin. With some time in the glass the wine got a bit disjointed and chunky, with the various components failing to integrate. I think this just needs more time.
Insanely delicious, even if it's still a bit tight. There's citrus and melon and tropical fruit all together. The palate is rich and dense with fruit but the acidity of the vintage is so powerful that the lingering flavor is tart rather than sweet. Perhaps not quite as expansive or complex as it could be, but wonderful nonetheless.

Insanely delicious, even if it's still a bit tight. There's citrus and melon and tropical fruit all together.
