  • 2011 Bedrock Wine Co. Sauvignon Blanc Kick Ranch

    USA, California, Sonoma County

    Bright white floral nose with honeysuckle and a real feeling of RS. Creamy mouthfeel with fresh ginger, lime zest, and a pine quality on the finish. This is fun but I just don't think it is expressive of the varietal.

  • 2007 Rhys Alesia Pinot Noir Green Valley of Russian River Valley

    USA, California, Sonoma County, Green Valley of Russian River Valley

    Powdery grape sweet tarts on the nose and on the attack. Some cranberry. A little hot with a little bitter astringency on the finish (in a good way). Nice

  • 2001 d'Arenberg The Ironstone Pressings

    Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale

    Blind. Strong tannins, mixture of plummy red and brambly black fruits. Glycerin. Really grapey from the Shiraz. This one is a real fooler--I never get aged Aussie wines when tasted blind. Delicious right now.

  • 2003 Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon

    In a great place right now. Dark cassis notes with some nice spice notes and a powdery/chalky mouthfeel. A little blackberry and some wild blueberry but the tannins are really well integrated.

  • 2003 Château d'Aiguilhe

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux

    pop and pour at cellar temperature.
    A bit restrained and tight initially. As it warmed dark cherry, a little blackberry and red plums emerged. A touch of sweet saddle leather but a green streak dominates (almost a juniper). Still a little tight and bitter on the finish but enjoyable. 2015 is not a long enough drinking window end. I would START there.
