  • 2009 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé 90 Points

    France, Provence, Bandol

    No formal notes. Earthy nose with strawberry and pink grapefruit notes. Light body but with decent flavor intensity. Nice length with solid acidity. A really nice rose that’s drinking very well. Excellent.

  • 2008 Château La Garde Blanc 88 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

    No formal notes. A nice white Bordeaux that showed typicity but didn’t have the same depth and complexities as the Smith Haut Lafitte. Very good.

  • 2006 Château Beauchêne Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Vignobles de la Serriere 87 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

    No formal notes. Medium, almost dark gold in colour; very oxidized looking. Nose was quite oxidized as well but palate was surprisingly fresh with decent acidity, waxy mouthfeel. Good.

  • 2004 Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 91 Points

    No formal notes. My last bottle of this and it’s clearly the best one yet. Smoky and toasty with lemon and earthy notes. Showing lots of complexity now and the oak is very well integrated. I wish I had more. Excellent.

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Estèphe

    No formal notes. This was excellent. Fully mature, resolved, beautiful Bordeaux funk nose along with a classic claret profile. Smooth and fairly resolved on the palate this is drinking extremely well right now. Excellent.

  • 1995 Ridge Lytton Springs 87 Points

    No formal notes. A big stylist difference from the ’82 Haut-Marbuzet. Riper, more new worldish of course, with blackberry and other berry fruit. This wasn’t as new worldly as the Carlisle that followed. I’ve never been a big Zin fan so maybe that’s why others enjoy this more than I do. Good.

  • 2007 Carlisle Zinfandel Papera Ranch 84 Points

    No formal notes. Full throttle and high-octane. Ripe, rich and modern and somewhat one-dimensional. Has the structure and fruit to age a while longer. I guess this could be a decent cheese wine. Wines like this confirm why I don’t buy Zinfandel. Average.

    No formal notes. This was very nice. Complex with sweet and gorgeous apricot and papaya notes with loads of acidity. Excellent.

  • 1996 Château Broustet 86 Points

    No formal notes. Felt a bit simpler after the Tokaji. There was this chemical/plastic note that was slightly off putting but other than that this was quite nice and a pretty good example of Sauternes. Still youthful but drinking well, this probably would have shown better had it not been served alongside the Tokaji. Good. 86+
