    Pale. A beautifully pure expression of Sauvignon-light, linear, all grapefruit and minerality. Pretty mouthwatering stuff.

  • 2010 Didier Dagueneau Pur Sang

    France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Pouilly-Fumé

    Slightly deeper color than the Blanc de Pouilly. Immediately broader, riper nose with varied citrus fruit. Wonderful juxtaposition of taut underlying acid structure with an extra layer of chalk, flesh and silky mouth feel. More depth of fruit in the mouth. Fantastic early showing. Exciting quality and significant aging potential.

Flight 2 - Clos Rougeard (2 Notes)

  • 2007 Clos Rougeard (Foucault) Saumur-Champigny

    France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Saumur-Champigny

    Light red. Lightly herbal and olive. Typical weight Cabernet Franc. Adequate fruit, high acidity. Probably not worth the price.

  • 2007 Clos Rougeard (Foucault) Saumur-Champigny Les Poyeux

    France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Saumur-Champigny

    Darker than the base Saumur. Much more going on aromatically, too, including a touch of brett and black fruit. Surprisingly rich for the vintage, almost chocolatey feel and a natural sweetness of fruit to accompany the underlying acidity. I found the dose of brett tolerable and overall liked this very much.
