  • 2011 Cantine Rallo Sicilia Bianco Maggiore 89 Points

    Italy, Sicily, Sicilia

    Pale lemony in colour. Mild aromatic, citrusy, floral fresh and very inviting nose, in a way the highlight of the wine. No oak but a creaminess that comes from aging on lees. A touch of a sweet core on the palate, richness yet also some bitter elements to it. Very enjoyable in its simplicity and a gorgeous nose. 88-90

  • 2011 Donnafugata Contessa Entellina Vigna di Gabri 86 Points

    Light yellow, green colour. Light nose, a touch mineral and a bit of exotic fruit. Again probably the highlight of the wine. Sharp and acidity on the palate, tight, focussed with ever the lightes touch of a sweet core and some bitterness on the end. 86

  • 2009 Pupillo Sicilia Cyane Moscato Dry 87 Points

    Light yellow in colour. Raisins and citrus fruits on the nose, a touch of grapefruit to be exact. Nice little blend. Fatty medium palate, some light sweetness but a in general a very dry wine with just a touch some bitterness on the finish 86-88

  • 2010 Centonze Frappato 87 Points

    Italy, Sicily, Vittoria DOC

    Very light red colour, almost pink. Like a Beaujolais wine in a way. No oak in sight. Fresh, good acidity, low in tannin and not really an age worthy wine. Would definitely help if served lightly chilled. A fun easy wine. 87

  • 2009 Cantine Valenti Nerello Mascalese Puritani 91 Points

    Italy, Sicily, Etna DOC

    Dark red in colour. A friend of ours at the tasting said it reminded her of burgundy and indeed this could be a Gevrey wine in the way style. Light dark fruit notes, mild meaty, smoky notes blend well with red fruit notes. This is solid wine, with aging capacity and structure. Lovely purity and expression. 91 and wait a few years.

  • 2006 Tasca D'Almerita Rosso del Conte 90 Points

    Dark in colour, ruby red. A touch of Bordeaux aromatics to begin with a touch of black olive , touch of liquorice light spicy. Very elegant wine, on the young side with still a lot evolution ahead of it. A very worthy effort. 89-90

  • NV Marco De Bartoli Marsala Superiore Riserva 10 Anni

    Our first marsala wine. Dark orange in colour. Very Madeira in style (made in a similar way apparently) with a nutty, rich nose , touch oxitative, roasted nuts. On the palate it is rich, dense and long with a nutty feel to it, light sweet fruit. As per JW who run the tasting this is as good as it gets and to be drank when bought rather than be aged. Pretty solid stuff.
