France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Tasting. Slightly perfumed start with lemon and lemon peel. Flavors of lemon and apple are large scaled but slightly less exciting than the wine's aromatic start. Lots of minerality but far more acidity, giving an austere, almost harsh finish. I would cellar this for at least 3-4 more years.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
Tasting. Ripe aromas of red and black cherry with Boeuf Bourguignon spice. Lush fruit to start on palate, then firmly structured an very austere in middle. Spice comes back out at the finish but with some rough edges. Hold to 2020 or later.
Tasting. Starts with lots of earth aromas with lingering red fruit and background spice. Palate seems far more fresh with ripe red cherry and bigger spice.
Tasting. Ripe plum and black cherry aromas with big spice and some earthy hints. Slightly more advanced on palate, showing black cherry, beef broth and reduced mushroom, but still squarely structured, unusually so for a 1982.
Tasting. Its best days probably behind it, this started with aromas of mushroom, mature black cherry and dried herbs. Less interesting on palate, more advanced, slightly thin, then drying on finish. Not quite as good as another bottle tried at a tasting a few months back.
Tasting. Slightly mature black fruit aromas with great cigarbox spice. Lush black fruit flavors, hint of reduced mushroom, also big spice on finish. At at great place now, still well structured and balanced with well integrated tannins and acidity. Probably at its peak, but I'd expect this wine to drink very well to 2020.
Tasting. Dried rose petal and dried cherry aromas with some earth and licorice. Palate also had red cherry with some background spice, but fruit was rather advanced while still firmly structured, giving a slightly off-balance sense.
