  • 2001 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru

Deep colour but no hint of any premox. Nutty rich and fat, oak with some fresh green herbs behind.. Fat rich and a bit one dimensional on finish. Still young. Very Lafon in style but a bit too heavy for me.

  • 1990 Château Léoville Barton 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Julien

Very young colour still depp red with some purple. Lovely nose, very 1990 with fine weave of tannins and depth of fruit. Typical LB structure but wrapped in the fruit. St Julien elegance and persistence. Cracking wine which will improve t for a decade or more.

  • 1987 R. López de Heredia Rioja Gran Reserva Viña Tondonia 90 Points

Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja

very mature colour. Nose very fragrant and mineral. Slightly astringent. Very much in the hosuse style. Palate a bit dissappointing. Same slight astringent note with little fruit and the finish a bit short. Interesting but you need to love the style.

  • 1982 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage 95 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage

A glorious bottle of this wine. Colour mature, fantastic weave of leather, rusty minerals, and firm fruit soared from glass in waves and layers of complexity. Palate powerful insistent but effortlessly balanced and harmonious. Tremndous length A greta example of Chave's genius.
