Wonderfully rich and vinous wine, ripe Pinot Noir fruit, slightly candied but not oxidative, hint of marzipan (winter liqueur from Ziegler comes to mind actually), lovely depth of flavour, excellent balance and freshness, good spicy length. Excellent grower champagne.
A classic example of old-style Rioja, hint of VA but without the flaws of yesteryear, delicious warmth from the old barrels, reminds me of a lovely, gentle but rich 30 year old left bank claret (1978 and 1982 come to mind), gains depth on the nose with air, silky-smooth, elegant but with good stuffing, tannins are largely resolved but still provide nice grip and balance, lovely freshness and depth of flavour, a symphony of fruit and oak, hint of plums, touch of vanilla, very good length. Just wonderful.

Completely mature but without even of trace of oxidation, structurally completely sound with lovely hint of tannic grip and a silky texture, flavours of wood and undergrowth, vestiges of fruit (red berry, rosehip); excellent length.
