  Tasted blind as part of four wines provided by Wente for a special blogger blind tasting, black bags included.
  
  To The Eye: dark red, violet in color
  On The Nose: raspberry, currant, plum
  In the Mouth: Easy drinking, as Merlot is supposed to be.
  Plum & red fruits on the front palate, nice soft texture mid palate, with notes of cherry & baked fruit, a clean finish with notes of mocha, currant, red fruits, nicely lingering, mild drying tannin.
  
  Balanced and not over done at 13.5%.
  
  Aged for 16 months in American, French, Eastern European, and neutral oak.
  A solid wine for $15 that won't make you embarrassed to drink Merlot.

  USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Livermore Valley

  Another solid vineyard designate from Wente for $15, not teaming with megapurple or oak sawdust as one might have expected, but instead a drinkable cabernet in the under $20 category.

  blackberry, plum, black tea, spice on the nose
  Simple, easy to drink in the mouth, red fruits, not dominated by oak.
  
  13.5% alc
  Aged for 14 months in a combination of American, French, Eastern European, and neutral oak
