  • 2009 Torbreck Les Amis 95 Points

Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley

Look at the soil in the Barossa and compare it with other places where you can get great Grenache, like Chateauneuf or the Armada vineyard, it's clear that you can't make this mineral driven style of Grenache here in the Barossa, you just don't have the terroir for it, which is why I scored other Barossa Grenaches relatively low. That's where les Amis comes in. it has a completely different style, and that't amazing. interestingly enough it's the only Barossa Shiraz that does it. I consider it very Australian in Nature with some of the elements of a great Shiraz, but distinctively different. This is so amazing.
It has coke hard candy (Grange says hi) coconut, creamy chocolate and then loads of fruit from cherry, raspberries to mandarins (especially mandarin oil, the one when you spray it into a candle). Really impressive.

Clearly the best wine at Tobreck and a close second to the Roennfeld Road Shiraz from Greenock Creek together with the Rockford Basket Press 2010 for the best wine tasted in this trip.

Burnt rubber, big bold barossa style shiraz, with a very dense fruit great if you like this style of wine :-)

  • 2009 Torbreck Descendant 89 Points

Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley

Floral, elegant style of Shiraz, I'd nearly call this Syrah. Big acidity, and a bit out of balance at the moment, needs a bit of time to come together

  • 2009 Torbreck RunRig 93 Points

Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley

Massive wine, round with a velvety quality to it. Floral with classic barossa fruit but elegantly packaged
